Joseph and his brothers: Genesis 37–50

If you’re keeping track of how long Abraham and his descendants lived as foreigners in Canaan, you could look to this point:

Genesis 37:1 So Jacob settled again in the land of Canaan, where his father had lived as a foreigner.

We’re up to three, maybe four generations: firstly Abraham and Isaac, and now Jacob and his sons.

That’s a long time to wait for a promise.
