Job’s final speech (part a): Job 26–28

Unhappy with his friend’s accusations, Job started down the sarcasm path, asking his friends to reflect on their own failings. How did they get so wise?

Job 26:2-4 “How you have helped the powerless!
How you have saved the weak!
How you have enlightened my stupidity!
What wise advice you have offered!
Where have you gotten all these wise sayings?
Whose spirit speaks through you?

Job describes God’s power and that true wisdom comes from fearing God. As he maintains his innocence, he explains that the misfortunes that have fallen on him would normally fall on the wicked.

Job 27:11-1211 I will teach you about God’s power.
I will not conceal anything concerning the Almighty.
But you have seen all this,
yet you say all these useless things to me.
