Genesis:1–3: In the beginning …

When God had finished His creating:

Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!

Eve could have said she didn’t want any evil, that she was happy with good, but she didn’t. Adam didn’t stand in her way. They both wanted to know evil rather than just enjoy the good. So now we all know evil because of the bad things that happen around us. In short: humanity got what we asked for.
