Setting boundaries and cities for the Israelites: Numbers 34–36
God was strict in His instructions about what land would belong to the Israelites. There were limits, beyond which they had no right to invade. Within what would soon be Israel, the land was to be divvied up with care:
Numbers 34:13 Then Moses told the Israelites, ‘This territory is the homeland you are to divide among yourselves by sacred lot.’
And the allocation would never change:
Numbers 36:9 No grant of land may pass from one tribe to another; each tribe of Israel must keep its allotted portion of land.
God is serious about setting limits. When a boundary is set, it’s set.
