Jesus talks to Nicodemus and the Samaritan women at the well; John the Baptist says Jesus is greater: John 3:1–4:45; Luke 3:19–20

Telling his disciples that Jesus had come from heaven and was talking only about what he had seen and knew, John described Jesus as:

^{John 3:34-35} For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands.

Then made the point: believe Him and obey for eternal life.

^{John 3:36} And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.
