Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (Part 1): Ephesians 1–3

It sounds like a paradox: we were alive and dead at the same time.

We have all been alive from the moment we were conceived, but we didn’t know God, so we were as good as dead to Him.

There’s nothing we can do to change this situation. God did it all when he raised Jesus from the dead.

Actually, there is one thing we can do: believe it. It would probably be a good idea to say thank you as well.

Ephesians 2:4-6 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
